The six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has adjudged to increase the repo rate by 25 basis points due to the concern of inflation. Five members of the committee voted for the rate hike and now the repo rate has been fixed at 6.5%. However, the RBI has maintained a 'neutral' stance in the policy as it aimed to contain inflation while not choking growth.
