A Jodhpur court on Thursday convicted Salman Khan in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. However, all the co-accused and his co-stars, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam were acquitted in the same case. Salman's defence counsel argued that the prosecution has tampered with the evidence, presented false witnesses and also failed to prove that blackbucks were killed by gunshots. Salman was accused of killing the blackbucks, an endangered species of antelope protected under the Wildlife Protection Act.

जोधपुर की एक अदालत ने गुरुवार को 1 99 8 में काला हिरण अवैध शिकार मामले में सलमान खान को दोषी ठहराया। हालांकि, सभी सह-आरोपी और उनके सह-कलाकारों, सैफ अली खान, तब्बू, सोनाली बेंद्रे व नीलम, को इसी मामले में निर्दोष करार दिया गया। सलमान के वकील ने कोर्ट में तर्क दिया कि अभियोजन पक्ष ने सबूतों के साथ छेड़छाड़ की, झूठे गवाह तैयार किये और यह साबित करने में भी विफल रहा है कि काले हिरणों की मौत गोली मारने से हुई थी। सलमान पर दो ब्लैकबक्स यानि काले हिरणों को मारने का आरोप लगाया गया था, जो की वन्यजीव संरक्षण अधिनियम के तहत संरक्षित मृग की एक लुप्तप्राय प्रजाति है।
