Domestic stock markets soared on Monday with the Sensex gaining more than 1,100 points, a day after exit polls predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win almost as many seats as it did in 2014 and form a government comfortably. The S&P BSE Sensex surged as much as 1,133 points or nearly 3 per cent to reclaim the 39,000 mark. Analysts said the current rally could be short-lived before election results are declared on Thursday.

एग्जिट पोल के पूर्वानुमान करने के एक दिन बाद कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेतृत्व वाली राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (NDA) लगभग उतनी ही सीटें जीतेगी जितनी इसने 2014 में जीती थीं और आराम से सरकार बनाएगी, सेंसेक्स 1,100 अंक से अधिक की बढ़त के साथ सोमवार को घरेलू शेयर बाजार बहुत ऊपर जाने लगे। S&P BSE सेंसेक्स ने 1,133 अंकों या लगभग 3 फीसदी तक बढ़ने के साथ 39,000 के स्तर को फिर से हासिल किया। विश्लेषकों ने कहा कि गुरुवार को चुनाव परिणाम घोषित होने से पहले मौजूदा छलांग  अल्पकालिक हो सकती है।
