The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Centre's plea to reconsider its verdict on the SC / ST Act. In a judgment given on March 20, Supreme Court did away with the provision of mandatory arrest under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. This judgment had led to nation-wide agitation by Dalits and tribals resulting in loss of several lives. The hearing on this petition will take place on 3 May.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने SC/ST एक्ट पर दिए फैसले पर पुनर्विचार करने के लिए केंद्र की याचिका को सुनने पर सहमति व्यक्त की है। 20 मार्च को दिए गए एक फैसले में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने SC/ ST (अत्याचार निवारण) एक्ट के तहत अनिवार्य गिरफ्तारी के प्रावधान को समाप्त कर दिया था। इस फैसले से दलितों और जनजातियों द्वारा देश भर में आंदोलन किया गया जिसके परिणामस्वरूप जान-मान का काफी नुक्सान हुआ था। इस याचिका पर अब 3 मई को सुनवाई होगी।
