Union Bank of Switzerland, Switzerland's largest bank, has agreed to acquire its troubled rival Credit Suisse. Earlier this month, UBS has agreed to acquire Credit Suisse in an emergency deal following the failure of two US banks. UBS has announced the acquisition of Credit Suisse for $3.24 billion. Under this, the shareholders of Credit Suisse will get one share of UBS in exchange for 22.48 shares. The central bank said, "This acquisition has been made possible with the support of the Swiss Federal Government, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority and the Swiss National Bank." The bank said it would 'secure financial stability and protect the Swiss economy'.
