Her journey from sales girl to becoming the country's finance minister is truly inspiring. It is very thrilling how a girl born in a middle-class family becomes the Finance Minister of the country on the strength of her hard work. Nirmala Sitharaman is the first woman in the country to be a full-time finance minister. Prior to this, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi held the portfolio of the Finance Ministry during 1970-71, but as an additional charge. She worked as a salesgirl in a home decor shop in Regent Street, London and today she is the country's Finance Minister.
