The US has agreed to let eight countries -- including Japan, India and South Korea -- keep buying Iranian oil after it reimposes sanctions on the OPEC producer on November 5, a senior administration official said. While the Trump administration’s goal remains to choke off revenue to Iran’s economy, and on the other hand, waivers are being granted in exchange for continued import cuts so as not to drive up oil prices.

एक वरिष्ठ प्रशासनिक अधिकारी ने कहा कि अमेरिका 5 नवंबर को ओपेक निर्माता पर प्रतिबंधों को फिर से लागू करने के बाद जापान, भारत और दक्षिण कोरिया समेत आठ देशों द्वारा ईरानी तेल खरीदने को जारी रखने के लिए सहमत हो गया है। जबकि ट्रम्प प्रशासन का लक्ष्य ईरान की अर्थव्यवस्था में राजस्व को कम करने के लिए बना हुआ है, और वहीं दूसरी ओर आयात में कटौती के बदले छूट-पत्र  प्रदान किये जा रहें  है ताकि तेल की कीमतों में वृद्धि न हो।
