Keeping in mind the current situation in the country, the University Grants Commission, UGC, has penned a letter to universities asking them not to conduct any offline examinations during May for the safety of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff, who are all fighting the deadly pandemic in one way or another. The commission, however, allowed the universities to make decisions regarding the conduct of online examinations after assessing local conditions and their preparedness.
The letter issued to the VCs of all universities and principals of all colleges states: "Keeping in view the current scenario of Covid-19, it is requested that Higher Education Institutions may keep the offline examinations in abeyance during May 2021 to avoid physical gathering at the campuses and also to provide much-needed relief to the students, faculty, and staff who are presently occupied in fighting pandemic in one way or another."
