The Indian men’s 4x100m relay team was disqualified during the heats on Friday at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea.The quartet of Manikanta Hoblidar, Amlan Borgohain, Rahul Kumar, and Pranav Gurav finished second — normally enough to qualify for the final. However, the team was marked DQ (disqualified) while the timings were being displayed. They were disqualified after being found guilty of baton exchange outside the takeover zone, violating World Athletics’ Technical Rule 24.7. The Malaysian team was also disqualified for a similar violation. It has been learnt that India has decided not to appeal the decision. India competed in the heats without two regular members — Gurindervir Singh and Animesh Kujur — who were replaced by Pranav and Rahul.
