He wears a shirt which looks nice. (उसने एक शर्ट पहनी जो अच्छी लग रही है।)

दिए गए वाक्य में “which looks nice” clause है जो shirt के विषय में बता रहा है। अर्थात shirt को संशोधित कर रहा है। ऐसे dependent clause जो noun को modify करें "adjective clause" कहलाते हैं।

  • एक dependent clause (आश्रित खंड) जो कि वाक्य में एक adjective (विशेषण) के रूप में कार्य करें, adjective clause कहलाता है। (An adjective clause works like adjective in a sentence. The function of an adjective is to modify (describe) a noun or a pronoun. Just like a noun clause modifies a noun or  a pronoun.)
  • adjective clause हमेशा उस noun के पीछे लगता है जिसे वह modify कर रहा हो।
  • who, which, that, whom, whose या relative adverb, like why, where, or when इत्यादि से शुरू होने वाले clauses Adjective Clause होते हैं जब इनके पहले कोई noun रहता है। They are also called relative clauses.
  • इनका हिंदी में अर्थ जो, जिसने, जिनको, जहाँ, जब इत्यादि से आरम्भ होता है।
  • Adjectives clauses have a subject and a verb (or predicate).
