Instructions देने के लिए हम imperative sentences का प्रयोग करते है। Imperative Sentences का प्रयोग किसी को कार्य कैसे करना है, बताने के लिए किया जाता है। जैसे -
Eat your vegetables! अपनी सब्जियां खाओ!
Turn left and go straight on. बाएँ मुड़ो और सीधे चलते जाओ।
ऐसे वाक्यों में Subject की आवश्यकता नहीं होती। वाक्य छोटे और अर्थपूर्ण होते है।

जब आप निर्देश देते है, तो आप अतिरिक्त जानकारी और सलाह के साथ अन्य व्यक्ति की मदद भी कर सकते हैं।निर्देश देते समय इन बातों का ध्यान रखें
1) Tell people what is necessary लोगों को बताओ क्या आवश्यक है
2) what is wrong क्या गलत है
3) what is not necessary क्या जरूरी नहीं है
निर्देश देते समय इन वाक्यांशों का प्रयोग कर सकते है -

प्रक्रिया को बताने के लिए अक्सर " sequencing (अनुक्रमण) " शब्द होते है। Sequencers आपके निर्देशों को क्रमबद्ध करने में मदद करता है। निर्देश देने के लिए हमेशा ordinal numbers (first, second etc..) का उपयोग करें। उदाहरण के लिए, "firstly (सबसे पहले) ", " secondly (दूसरी बात) " और " finally (अंत में)"। निर्देश प्रायः Simple Present Tense में देते है।

clean the room. कमरा साफ करें।
switch on the lights. लाइट्स चालू करो।
