Clean का प्रयोग प्रायः adjective की तरह किया जाता है। इसके कई अर्थ होते हैं जिनमें से कुछ हम आज जानने का प्रयत्न करते हैं -

Make sure your hands are clean before you have your dinner. (सुनिश्चित करें कि खाना खाने से पहले आपके हाथ साफ हो।)
The kitchen is clean. (रसोई साफ-सुथरी है।)
→ fair or pure
The judge took the defendant's clean record into account when passing sentence. (सजा देते समय न्यायाधीश ने अभियुक्त के साफ़ सुथरे रिकॉर्ड को ध्यान में रखा।)
It was a clean contest. (यह एक निष्पक्ष प्रतियोगिता थी।)
→ morally acceptable/ free from corruption or from lasciviousness (कामुकता) or obscenity (अश्लीलता)
Can't you think of any clean jokes? (क्या आप कोई भी साफ -सुथरे चुटकुले के बारे में नहीं सोच सकते?)
→ having no rough edges, and smooth, straight, or equally balanced/ smooth/ skillful
I tried to make a clean cut, but the knife wasn't sharp enough. (मैंने एक निपुण कट लगाने की कोशिश की, लेकिन चाकू पर्याप्त तेज नहीं था।)
