Use of Comparative degree in English Grammar

Use of Comparative Degree in English Grammar

अंग्रेजी व्याकरण में तुलनात्मक डिग्री का उपयोग

The comparative degree is used to compare two things or people. It helps us show which one has more or less of a quality. In English, we usually add “-er” to the end of an adjective or use “more” before it.

Key Concepts:

1. Adjectives - शब्द जो किसी विशेषता को बताते हैं (जैसे: tall, fast)

2. Comparative Form - तुलनात्मक रूप (जैसे: taller, faster)

Usage Examples:

1. She is taller than her brother.

वह अपने भाई से लंबी है।

2. This book is more interesting than that one.

यह किताब उस किताब से अधिक रोचक है।

Key Mistakes:

1. Using “more” with short adjectives: For example, saying “more tall” instead of “taller.”

2. Forgetting to use “than” when making a comparison: For example, saying “She is taller” instead of “She is taller than her brother.”

Understanding the comparative degree helps us communicate better and make clear comparisons in English!
